The new iPad, the new iPhone

The New iPad

In the the presentation conference of the new iPad tablet Apple used the name The New iPad to describe its new product and generated confusion among everyone present in the room. The device would not be called iPad 3/iPad HD but simply iPad, the Cupertino company preferring to apply a formula that it already uses successfully. Phill Schiiler, one of the vice presidents of the company, stated that the choice of the name was based on the desire of those in the company to become unpredictable and I think we all agree that they succeeded.

However, what Apple has done today is not new, in fact it is an old thinking that the company already applies successfully to Macs or iPods. All the company's Macs keep their name when a new version is released, some iPods have the same strategy and now everything is transferred to the iPad tablet. In the documentation regarding the delivery of the new tablet, Apple refers to it as iPad 3rd generation, but on its own website it is simply called iPad. Some call the new tablet iPad 3/iPad 4G, etc. but Apple simply calls it iPad and we should get used to the name because applying the strategy used for Macs, I think that future tablets will keep the basic name.

Following the same idea, it is very possible that the new iPhone terminal will not be called iPhone 5 but iPhone and that's it. Apple was criticized for using the names iPhone 3GS/4S in products that apparently did not bring many changes and I think that this led them to apply some changes. I for one would be happy to see a new iPhone that keeps its basic name because in a few years we will end up using iPhone 11 or who knows what variations of these names. In conclusion, the name of the new iPad tablet will most likely start some changes in the branding strategy of Apple products.
