Apple returns money to Australians unhappy that they cannot use the iPad tablet on 4G networks

I told you yesterday that the Australian government will take action against the false promotion that Apple makes in Australia regarding the compatibility of the iPad tablet with 4G networks. Although the company says that the tablet works on 4G networks, the details that reveal the fact that only those in the US/Canada are compatible with the tablet are not sufficiently well positioned in the promotional materials. The Australian government is unhappy with this, and so are its lawyers appeared yesterday in front of a court where, contrary to Apple's lawyers, they supported their claims. Those from Apple stated that the promotional materials do not specify that the tablet works on 4G networks and agreed to publish a statement warning users that they can return the tablet within 14 days of purchase and receive a refund.

Today Apple's lawyers argued it was never specified the iPad could connect to Telstra's network, but told the court the device is compatible with other networks that by international standards are deemed 4G. Apple has agreed to publish a clarification that states the product supports ultra-fast mobile networks but is not compatible with the Telstra network. The company says it will email purchasers offering a refund if they believe they have been misled. Clarifications will also be made at the point of sale. Apple has entered into discussions with the watchdog and will return to the Melbourne Federal Court this afternoon.

Anyway, Apple offered the possibility to return the tablet within 14 days of purchase, so basically we are not talking about any special measure taken by the company from Cupertino, but only about bringing back to everyone's attention the fact that they can return the tablet without any problem whenever they want. Unfortunately, even in our country, online stores present the tablet's 4G function but neglect to mention that it cannot be used on such networks in Romania, and I am curious to find out how many will invoke the lack of compliance to return the tablet.
