UPDATE: MuscleNerd will solve the problem of iPhone 3G/3GS not being able to downgrade the iPad baseband

I told you yesterday that certain iPhone 3G/3GS terminals that have the baseband 06.15.00 of the iPad tablet cannot be downgraded to the baseband 05.13.04 with the help of the new redsn0w 0.9.14 beta 1. MuscleNerd stated that for certain terminals the solution will not work and that he will try to find a method to solve the problem, and this happened. The member of the Dev Team announced today on Twitter that he discovered a method by which he can solve the problems generated by redsn0w during the downgrade process and that the new version of the program will downgrade even the terminals that refused to do so.

This does not mean that incompatible devices according to the serial number will be able to downgrade, so the fix in the future version of redsn0w applies only to those who have an iPhone 3G/3GS produced before the 24th week of 2011. When the new version of redsn0w I will let you know when it will be available.

UPDATE: After June 28th MuscleNerd will receive the terminal he needs to solve the problem, so probably somewhere around the beginning of July he will release the new version of redsn0w.

Update #2: There's a subset of 3GS iPhones that won't take the downgrade. We now understand why (they use a slightly different NOR chip), and should be receiving a loaner of such a phone on Thursday the 28th. After we have one in hand we'll tweak the redsn0w payload to handle that variation too!
