China is an amazing country where people are willing to do anything to make a profit, including exchanging fake iPhone components for real ones. In a store of a Chinese reseller fake parts for iPhones were replaced with real parts, the employees who did this getting a pretty good profit by selling them outside the store. Of course, the fake parts reached Apple, the company's employees noticed that it was a fraud, and one of those who committed this crime surrendered to the police and pointed to his colleagues who helped him.
Quite a few components would have been changed in this way in just one store that sold iPhones with Apple's consent, but this practice is most likely extended to other parts of China. It was expected that in the end someone would try to do such things, the problem is that those fake parts reach Apple and the company discovers where they come from and who sent them to them.
