iOS 7 changes the appearance of some icons to align them with the new flat design

In iOS 7 Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), changed the design of the icons, and application developers will have to do exactly the same to provide users with a uniform experience across the entire operating system. To force the implementation of the new flat design for icons a little, those from Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), have implemented in iOS 7 a system that eliminates certain effects applied in the past to the icons present in the HomeScreen, all with the idea of making the design as uniform as possible. E.g, iOS 7 removes the gloss effect applied to the icons of certain applications, modifies the ends of the icons to make the corners a bit rounder, and in the case of others we are talking about completely different icons in iOS 6 and iOS 7, although the same application was downloaded from the App Store.

If you look at the image above, you will see two applications that are now available in the App Store, but they have different icons for iOS 6 and iOS 7, but the same version of the applications was installed on both operating systems. It seems that the icons present in iOS 7 are actually available in the application package, in the case of one of them the icon was in a folder with artwork made for the app store, and in the case of the other the icon appeared when opening the application. iOS 7 immediately picked both as suitable for the new look thought by Apple and the truth is that they fit, looking completely different from what we saw in iOS 6.

For now, Apple has chosen to remove the gloss effect for most applications, the choice of other icons with a flat design is probably being made now and in the future the developers will include them themselves, but it is clear that a lot of icons will change from the fall and you have to prepare for to stay.
