Some teachers in California are protesting because of the purchase of iPad tablets for schools

During the last year I told you that the Los Angeles Unified School District will spend $1 billion to purchase tablets iPad dedicated to educational units. Although the idea itself seems great, the teachers of some educational units were not so enthusiastic about the way the funds are spent, so now they are protesting against the decision of the school inspectorate. They argue that the money should have been used to repair schools that have problems instead of being spent on tablets iPad, and the banner above explains their position very clearly.

The fact of the matter is, I had students with open tracheas and physical needs and the place was unsanitary. And that was the same year that we also ran out of toilet paper. It should shine a light on the fact that they are ready to spend (a billion) dollars on iPads while we are asking students to try to learn and teachers to try to teach in conditions that are substandard, subhuman in a lot of ways.

Everything started in December from a page of Facebook created by two teachers angry because of the way the money is spent, all kinds of evidence is now being published there about the real problems of the schools. From rats roaming the classrooms to broken toilets, termites and broken roofs, that Facebook page has plenty of reasons why the purchase of iPad tablets should be ignored, but it won't happen.

Even if the authorities claim that they have enough money for repairs, despite the purchase of tablets, the protests will probably not stop here.
