Apple publishes the first data on ethnic diversity within its own employees

Many weeks ago Tim Cook announced that he will publish the first data on ethnic diversity among the employees of the company he leads, and today on the website Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), we have this data available. According to them, 55% of Apple's employees are white, 15% are Asian, 11% are Hispanic, 7% are black, the remaining 9% not having declared this aspect in the employment file within Apple.

At Apple, our 98,000 employees share a passion for products that change people's lives, and from the very earliest days we have known that diversity is critical to our success. Our definition of diversity goes far beyond the traditional categories of race, gender, and ethnicity. It includes personal qualities that usually go unmeasured, like sexual orientation, veteran status, and disabilities. We believe in celebrating that diversity and investing in it.

Going further, 70% of Apple's employees are men, while 30% of them are women, a difference that is easy to understand considering that we are talking about an IT company. Together with these data regarding the ethnicity of the American company's employees, those from Cupertino have also published a video clip in which they present the importance of transparency in the workplace and you can find additional details in specially dedicated page.
