A young man spent almost $38.000 on in-app purchases in a single application

In-app purchases represent a major problem for users of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, more precisely for their children who have the habit of spending enormous sums of money without realizing it. In the same situation, a 15-year-old boy from Belgium found himself when he discovered that he could buy virtual gold in the game Game of War - Fire Age through in-app purchases, he purchased so many packages that he spent $37.600 of his parents' money.

According to a local publication, the very large sum was generated because the game would not have offered alerts regarding the sums of money spent by the user to acquire the virtual currency, so the young man would not have realized exactly what he was doing. Although it is not known exactly how the parents will recover the money spent by the young person in the application, the Belgian authorities demand changes in the way in which purchases of this kind are made through the applications in order to avoid similar situations.

Meanwhile, the young man will be treated by a psychologist who will try to wean him from the games that generated his addiction and motivated him to spend so much money.
