In this idea, It seems that the factory in Malta belonging to GlobalFoundries is going to produce the new one A9 chip for the Apple company, so we are talking about a main component of iPhones that is manufactured in Europe, something that has never happened before.
Apple has awarded the contract for its next-generation A9 chips to Samsung Corp., which will share the work with GlobalFoundries, according to Bloomberg News. GlobalFoundries will make the chips at its Malta plant, which has been preparing for the work since late 2013, the Times Union previously reported.
Since 2013, GlobalFoundries has been preparing this factory to start the production of chips for mobile terminals and it seems that this year it will have the opportunity to start production for Apple and collect serious sums of money from the collaboration with those from Cupertino. Considering the high production costs in Europe or the USA, Apple has always preferred to work with Asians, but here is that GlobalFoundries can offer low production costs in Malta and starting from 2015 we will have the first essential iPhone components manufactured in Europe.
