BB-8 is based on it Sphero 2.0 to control his movements, and the creation of this character is based on the fact that in the past the Sphero company was part of a Disney startup accelerator, being monitored by the Disney CEO, Bob Iger, a close friend of to Steve Jobs, he having the idea to support the creation of the character.
