Peek and Pop - how the new 3D Touch gestures of the iPhone 6S work

Peek Pop 3D Touch gesturesTouch 3D was implemented in iPhone 6S along with a system capable of distinguishing between various types of touches and bringing us a multitude of great functions, and in the middle of them are the Peek and Pop gestures.

Peek

Peek, or taking a look, is a gesture that, by lightly pressing the screen, allows us to view various information in a preview window.

If we Peek in a link in an application we will be able to see a preview of a web page, in the Mail application we will be able to see an email, and in the Camera application we will see the recently recorded picture.

All these actions are done using Peek without leaving the application we are in, so basically we have a preview of what we are about to access, but in reality we do not access it.

Pop

Pop is the second gesture created for 3D Touch in iPhone 6S, it works in tandem with Peek, more precisely, after we do a Peek with a light press we can press harder to access the respective content.

For example, if we Peek on a link with a light press and we want to actually access it, then we can press harder and by activating the Pop gesture we will access that link, we will access the picture seen in the preview or we will be able to access the email seen in preview.

Peek and Pop are great for pictures, emails, links, but also for Apple Maps where we can see information about a location without actually leaving the map, and if they are useful, then we can access that information.
