iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 will not increase Apple's sales

Apple moneyiPhone 5se si iPad Air 3 will be launched this spring by the Apple company, but American analysts are not so enthusiastic about the new products prepared by those from Cupertino for users around the world.

Speaking about the iPhone 5, a well-known Asian analyst, from whom I learned a lot of valid information about unreleased Apple products, stated that the new smartphone will not substantially increase Apple's sales for it comes with absolutely nothing new for users.

According to him, the iPhone 5se is just a reheated soup which cannot substantially increase sales of Apple smartphones and this is perfectly true because the terminal is produced with components already used in iPhones sold worldwide.

Even the iPad Air 3 is not seen as a tablet capable of bringing something good for the Apple company in terms of sales, so basically the iPhone 7 would be the only mobile terminal that could generate an increase in sales for the Apple company this year.

We revise down 2016F shipments of new 4-inch iPhone, as little new to offer. While the new 4-inch iPhone has been enjoying the media spotlight, we don't regard the product as innovative, either in terms of form factor (similar to iPhone 5s, though distinguished by an upgraded panel cover glass from 2D to 2.5D) or hardware specs (with 6s as a benchmark, although a 12MP camera is higher spec than our expectation of 8MP). Moreover, considering the replacement impact on price cuts for iPhone 5s, we lower 2016F shipments of the new 4-inch model from 18-20mn units to 10-12mn units.

Although mobile terminals are not sold as growth engines for Apple, the analyst claims that the new MacBook models that will be launched in the middle of the year should bring an increase in sales for those from Cupertino, but it will not be significant.

Practically, the analysts do not think that the products announced so far as being ready for launch would help the Apple company in any way and the reality is that they are not really that attractive.

We see MacBook as a stronger candidate for becoming a theme given solid growth in the business segment, as well as a potential upgrade to hit the market in 1H16.
