Spotify launches a video streaming service

Spotify is preparing to launch a video streaming service for users all over the world, the first version of the application that will provide access to this service being developed for Google's Android operating system.

Spotify announced during this day that users in Germany, Great Britain and Sweden will have access to this new video streaming service in the immediate future, an application for iOS being in the development process, but currently unavailable.

Spotify's video streaming service will include multimedia content available from several producers such as BBC, Comedy Central, ABC, ESPN and others, the company planning to present the multimedia content in various packages on various themes.

Playlists of video content will be able to be created by users and for now it is not known if there will be subscriptions or if users will see ads, although for the launch the ads will be disabled for everyone, but the situation is temporary.

Spotify AB is finally rolling out its video product to the masses. The Swedish music-streaming service is planning to introduce video content on its Android app starting this week, followed by the iOS app by the end of next week in the US, the UK, Germany and Sweden, the company said.

Spotify enters a world of audio streaming services where Netflix dominates along with Hulu and other similar companies, so it will be interesting to see what Spotify has in store for users.
