Apple is changing the USB-C cables of the 12-inch MacBook

Just a few weeks after initiation the iPhone and iPad charger replacement program, the Apple company initiated another through which change the USB-C cables of the MacBook 12 inch, some of them being, apparently, defective products.

According to Apple these cables would affect the charging of the MacBook 12 inch or prevent them from charging after connecting to a charger, so anyone who has such a cable will receive a free one from Apple or can order one for free.

Apple will ship free cables to all those who used an Apple ID when buying, to which their real name and real address are attached, the rest of the users can order a cable for delivery directly through the Apple website.

The identification of defective cables is based on the image below, more precisely the cables with problems did not have a production series written on them (top right), while the new cables offered by Apple with MacBook 12 inches have a production series written on them (bottom left).

Apple will provide a new, redesigned USB-C charge cable, free of charge, to all eligible customers. This program also covers Apple USB-C charge cables that were sold as a standalone accessory. MacBook owners should use the replacement process below to receive a new USB-C charge cable.

Given that we live in Romania and there is no Apple Store or Apple website, the only method by which you can replace a damaged cable is to visit an authorized Apple reseller or service.
