Apple is in legal trouble over the iPad's Split View feature

Last year the Apple company implemented in iOS 9 a system called Split View, offering the possibility of viewing two applications on the same screen of the tablet, something that was impossible until that moment, many users appreciating its integration into the product of those from Cupertino.

Although Split View it was very well received by tablet owners iPad, an Indian court issued a court order forcing Apple to stop using the term Split View in the country to describe the feature available for its tablets sold locally.

According to this decision, a local company has the name SplitView protected with a trademark patent, and it is probably seeking monetary compensation from Apple to allow it to use the term, those from Cupertino are currently appealing against this decision.

Vyooh is the name of the company that owns the SplitView brand, it being one of Microsoft's partners in India, it developed a similar software a decade ago, those from Apple are using the term without right, and now they will most likely have to pay for it.

Vyooh, a vendor for Microsoft, has claimed that it developed a similar software a decade ago in 2006 […] Vyooh LLP and its promoter Rohit Singh had approached the court, alleging that they have developed the software program which sold under the trademark 'SplitView'.

No matter what the court's decision will be in the end, the function implemented in the iPad will not disappear, even if Apple will have to find another name for it in India.
