Chromebook has surpassed Mac in sales

Chromebooks surpassed Macs in sales for the first time, but only in the US.

What many thought was impossible was achieved by the Google company, Its Chromebooks succeeding to surpass Macs for the first time in terms of sales, but here we are talking about an achievement that applies only to the USA.

According to an estimate made by the analysis agency IDC, Apple sold 1.8 million Macs in Q1 2016 in the US, having a market share of 13%, sales of Chromebooks amounting to 2 million units, but here we are talking about the combined sales of several manufacturers.

According to IDC, Chromebooks have mainly conquered the educational market in the US, but outside of it sales were not that great, neither in the US nor in other areas of the planet.

In December Tim Cook criticized Chromebooks as simple test machines that are used in the educational environment, they have no real value for the act of education, so today's estimate could have some truth behind it since the products have been criticized by Apple's CEO.

Chrome OS overtook Mac OS in the US in terms of shipments for the first time in 1Q16. Chromebooks are still largely a US K-12 story.

Chromebooks are a success story of those from Google, laptops running Chrome OS and being promoted with difficulty for the educational environment or regular users, but in the end they managed to give a strong blow to Apple.
