Apple's plan to improve Siri, iCloud and the iTunes Store

Apple will unite the teams that develop most of its online services to help them cooperate better in the development of future products.

The Apple company is beginning to understand that its online services have big problems in terms of the functions it offers to users, so it made a plan to improve them. More specifically, sources inside the Apple company stated that the teams that develop Siri, Apple Maps, iCloud, Apple Pay, Apple News, iTunes Store and Apple Music will cooperate to improve all Internet services.

Apple intends to move the engineers of all these teams to a single campus to help them collaborate more effectively in the future. At the moment, the teams of these services work in various buildings in the Apple campus in Cupertino, but also in the one in Sunnyvale, and the cooperation between them was affected due to the separation.

Moreover, the development of new functions was also slowed down, so Apple found the simplest solution, the union of all employees in Apple Campus. More than 13.000 Apple employees are to be moved to the Apple Campus in 2017, and the teams that develop the previously mentioned services will end up in the same buildings.

More than that, Apple intends to move all services to a single system from which to run, which at the moment has the name Pie, the pie. The new infrastructure will allow Apple to control all aspects of content delivery and could make services faster than at the moment.

"Apple has begun moving over parts of Siri, the iTunes Store, and Apple News to the new platform, one of the people said. Apple plans to move other services, including Maps, to its new system over the next few years. Apple has also developed an internal photo storage system dubbed McQueen to gradually end its reliance on Google and Amazon servers, the people said."

Considering that the teams will only start cooperating from next year, it remains to be seen how long it will take until the services will really become better.
