iPhone users are abusing the refund policy for applications

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), returns the money for the applications bought from the AppStore, under certain conditions of course, even if this is not promoted by the company and is not easy to do in Romania. In other countries, those from Apple easily and frequently return the money for the applications bought from the AppStore, and some customers are accused of abusing this.

Application developers from South Korea claim that many users buy their applications and in-app purchases, then ask for their money back. Although they get the money back for the content, they still stay with it and can continue to use it without the developers being able to delete or block in any way the respective content sold to customers.

4 big application developers from South Korea told a local publication that this practice has become a frequent one and that Apple is not doing anything serious to block it. the even weirder part is that some local companies have turned this process of procuring free content into a business by asking for money back after purchase.

Since there are businesses created to take advantage of this system, it is clear that the problem of those from Apple is extremely big in South Korea, and probably not only there. There is a possibility that in other countries the exact same thing will happen with the AppStore applications, and those from Apple seem powerless for now.

Apple holds full control in paying refunds on paid for mobile content such as games. It determines whether to give refunds to consumers. But the content developer cannot take part in the process under Apple's refund policy. Apple does not even provide information about the users who have requested and received the refund, claiming it is to protect consumer rights. For this reason, the developers have no other choice but to manually track down the users and check if they continue to use the charged content they have already received refunds for.

At the moment there is no evidence of the fact that problems of this kind exist in Europe, but if the businesses are profitable, it is not hard to believe that they will be extended here as well. Apple returns the money on applications and in-app purchases multiple times and several hours after the purchase, Google does this only once and only a maximum of 2 hours after the purchase.
