iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S will have Samsung OLED screens

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S will have curved OLED screens manufactured exclusively by Samsung, the only manufacturer of this type of components.

iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8S will most likely use Samsung OLED screens, the Koreans being able to exclusively supply this component for Apple in the next two years. The information comes from Asian analysts who analyzed the screen market for mobile terminals and found out what Apple's plans would be in the next 2 years.

Samsung is currently the main producer of OLED screens for smartphones and tablets, its competitors being very far from having a similar production. Most of Samsung's competitors supply LCD screens for the iPhone and will make major investments to switch to OLED production, but they need at least 1 year to have production that covers part of Apple's needs.

Asian analysts claim that Samsung will exclusively provide curved OLED screens for the iPhone 8, and this will also be maintained in the case of the iPhone 8S. Now Samsung produces 95% of OLED screens sold worldwide, but it would have an even higher percentage in terms of curved OLED screens, which Apple would like to use.

Although Samsung has supremacy on the OLED market, it will invest 12 billion dollars to expand its production capacity, all with the idea of winning Apple's orders. With supremacy in the production of curved OLED screens, it is not hard to believe that Samsung would have exclusivity in the production of these screens for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S.

"Samsung Display is highly likely to exclusively supply OLED display panels to Apple's iPhones for at least two years to come. Samsung Display is expected to monopolize the supply of OLED panels to Apple's iPhone 8, the first iPhone ever to feature a curved OLED screen."

Although Apple would not want to give Samsung exclusivity in supplying the curved OLED screens for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S, it will have no choice. Without alternatives from other current partners, Apple will be forced to use Samsung again to be able to produce and sell its iPhone terminals in the coming years.

Having said that, despite the differences between Apple and Samsung, in 2017 and 2018 the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S terminals will have curved OLED screens produced by Koreans.
