The first iPhone and the great secret hidden from Steve Jobs

The first iPhone was also compatible with styluses thanks to the secret work done by Apple employees without the knowledge of Steve Jobs.

First iPhone was presented by Steve Jobs as a true technological achievement, i.e. a smartphone that can be used without a stylus, as happens with the smartphones released up to that time. Steve Jobs put a lot of emphasis on the multi-touch screen that responded much easier and faster to commands, truly revolutionizing the smartphone world.

Steve Jobs asked his employees to make the first iPhone so that it could be easily used with one or more fingers, but they only partially listened to him. Today we find out that in reality, Apple employees made the first iPhone very easy to use even with a stylus, and this without Steve Jobs knowing what they were doing in reality as long as he was not around them.

Knowing that Steve Jobs would fire them on the spot for considering the possible use of an iPhone with a stylus, the employees implemented compatibility in iOS without the Apple president knowing. It was also logical to see that a smartphone with such an advanced screen could be easily used with a stylus, but Steve Jobs did not want to associate this idea with the new Apple product.

Despite Steve Jobs' stubbornness to announce that the first iPhone was easy to use with a stylus, Apple employees understood the importance of this. Steve Jobs did not promote this compatibility in the conference for the presentation of the first iPhone, but those who bought the terminal and tried to use a stylus quickly found out that everything is possible, even easier than with other terminals.

"From the word go, Jobs was clear: the iPhone didn't need to work with a stylus because your finger is all you should need. I thought, 'We must make this work with a stylus. Because we knew it was right, even though Steve was making a philosophical point initially saying you can just use your finger. We knew there will come a day when you're going to need a stylus. We did it without his knowledge, it was behind the scenes. He would've ripped my head off."

If Apple employees had not worked on this compatibility without Steve Jobs knowing, then probably today we would have had difficulty using the iPhone with a stylus. Of course, if Steve Jobs had still led Apple and those employees were still there, they would have been fired on the spot for these revelations.
