WhatsApp, the most used messaging network on the planet, is going to offer us a function that will locate us in real time for our friends. Called Live Location Tracking, the new function of WhatsApp is designed to allow us to display in real time the location of the people in a group of conversations, which is impossible at the moment.
The new function available in the beta versions of the WhatsApp application can be activated by the user for a period of 1/2/5 minutes, or permanently. It helps users in a WhatsApp chat group find each other faster when setting up a meeting, and theoretically this should be its only use, according to the developers.
The idea itself is good for the limited situations in which the WhatsApp application would be used in these ways, but users must be very careful with it. If they activate the WhatsApp function for an indefinite period of time, then there is a high possibility that various people in a chat group will permanently monitor their location.

Moreover, having this function permanently active in WhatsApp, battery autonomy will be seriously affected by the constant consumption of energy by GPS. The Facebook application had a similar feature available to users and was heavily criticized because of its way of working, so WhatsApp could go through a similar problem.
At the moment, the Live Location Tracking function is disabled by default by the WhatsApp company, so users must activate it manually. In this idea, no one will be able to discover our location while using WhatsApp unless we want this, so we don't have to worry too much about it for now.
Considering that the Live Location Tracking function of WhatsApp is currently only in the testing process, it remains to be seen when it will be officially launched.
