Apple Campus 2 and fanatical attention to detail

Today, a series of extremely interesting information has appeared regarding the very strict attention to detail that the Apple company pays for Apple Campus 2. To begin with, it must be said that Apple has invested 5 billion dollars in this project to build the Apple Campus 2, a colossal amount for any kind of company headquarters.

Turning now to the requirements of the Apple company, it seems that around the buildings there must not be any vents, or any series of pipes that would spoil their design. Even if Apple Campus 2 has many buildings with glass facades, their appearance should not be spoiled by elements such as those mentioned previously.

Next, the Apple company has very strict rules regarding the distance tolerance for materials, which is much smaller than usual. One of the architects who worked with Apple also stated that many times those from Apple were disappointed to learn that their wishes in terms of construction cannot be realized in the real world.

"Tolerances, the distance materials may deviate from desired measurements, were a particular focus. On many projects, the standard is 1/8 of an inch at best; Apple often demanded far less, even for hidden surfaces.  The company's keen design sense enhanced the project, but its expectations sometimes clashed with construction realities, a former architect said."

The interesting part is that many of the design elements of the buildings are inspired by products that the Apple company has released over time. We are talking here about the edges of the buildings and up to the elevator buttons, the employees of the construction companies noticing that they look very much like the Home button of the iPhone.

"One of the most annoying features was the doorways, which Apple wanted to be perfectly flat, with no threshold. The construction team pushed back, but Apple held firm.  The rationale? If engineers had to adjust their gait while entering the building, they risked distraction from their work, according to a former construction manager."

Apple thought everything in such great detail that they didn't want the doors to have space between the walls so as not to distract the employees when they enter the building. Although the builders "fought" with Apple so that this would not be done because it had never been done before, those from Apple did not even want to hear such ideas.

Unfortunately for Apple, this too much attention to details delayed the completion of some parts of the project, Apple having difficulties also created by the emergency services authorities. In the end, it seems that Apple wasted a lot of time arguing about the door handles that it wants in a certain way, and after a year and a half they still haven't been completed.
