A few days ago I told you that Apple alone collected 91% of the entire profit of smartphone manufacturers in Q4 2016, the percentage being an impressive one. Various smartphone market analysis companies have provided figures regarding the profits of manufacturers, and below you can see a graph made by those from Strategy Analytics.
According to them, Apple's competitors had extremely low profit compared to Apple's, but at least they made a profit in this market. You can see that Huawei, Vivo and Oppo each made 200 million dollars in profit from the sale of smartphones in Q4 2016, 40 times less than Apple in the same period.
The difference between those from Apple and the competitors is enormous, if we think that the difference in sales is not really that big between these companies. All 3 manufacturers are from China and have recorded substantial increases in smartphone sales in the last 2 years, but they fail to generate as much profit from smartphone sales.
Those from Apple seem to have found the "recipe for success" in terms of increasing profits for the smartphone market, so Apple is still at the top from this point of view. How long it will take until its competitors could catch up is hard to say, but the competition between them is beneficial for Apple, even if iPhone sales will stagnate.
