The head of Samsung was questioned by prosecutors for 15 hours

The vice president of the Samsung group, Jay Y. Lee, went through a new round of hearings with South Korean prosecutors in the criminal investigation regarding high-level corruption in the country. According to local publications, Jay Y. Lee spent no less than 15 hours in the offices of the prosecutors to give statements and provide explanations regarding the new evidence discovered by them.

A few weeks ago, South Korean prosecutors requested an arrest warrant for Jay Y. Lee, accusing him of bribing close associates of the South Korean president. Then a local court was of the opinion that the prosecutors did not have strong enough evidence to justify preventive detention, so that request was refused and Jay Y. Lee was set free.

However, this obstacle did not stop the prosecutors from continuing their investigation, so now they called Jay Y. Lee again for questioning and could ask for a new preventive arrest warrant. Apart from Jay Y. Lee, the prosecutors identified three other managers of the Samsung company and called them to hearings to obtain evidence against the vice president of the group.

If until now Jay Y. Lee has managed to remain free, the prosecutors seem determined to find at least one proof of the fact that he was involved in bribing those close to the president of South Korea. Considering the very high involvement in this case, there is a possibility that the arrest of Jay Y. Lee will be requested again this month by the prosecutors.

"Samsung Group chief Jay Y. Lee was questioned by South Korea's special prosecutor for more than 15 hours as part of an investigation into a graft scandal that threatens to topple President Park Geun-hye. The prosecution has also identified four other Samsung executives as suspects and have summoned three of them."
