iOS 11 will block 200.000 applications on the iPhone?

Yesterday, a company specialized in monitoring the application market for mobile terminals stated that iOS 11 will block almost 200.000 applications from the AppStore. We are talking about applications that have not been optimized to work on the 64-bit chips implemented by the Apple company in the iPhone or iPad terminals released since 2013.

Apple started to display messages in iOS 10.3 that inform users that iOS 11 will no longer allow certain AppStore applications to run. A special menu in iOS 10 lists the applications that will not be able to run on iOS 11 when it is launched, and those from Sensor Tower claim that it would be about 200.000 applications.

They claim that now the AppStore has 2.4 million applications and about 8% of them would not be updated to be able to work in iOS 11 when the update is released. Games are the most affected by this change that iOS 11 will bring, and although the figure is correct now, things will change until the operating system is released.

After the release of the first beta version of iOS 11 in June, many developers will update their applications to be compatible with the new version of the operating system. In the end, iOS 11 will not block almost 200.000 applications, but less than that, but it remains to be seen what the numbers will be when iOS 11 is officially available to us.
