Apple announces a record in payments made to developers

Apple announced today that in the 9 years of the AppStore, it has paid no less than 70 billion dollars to the developers of applications for the iOS platform. In the last year, downloads of applications for iPhone and iPad increased by no less than 70%, an impressive achievement that is possible thanks to the growing number of active iDevices globally.

Announcing that it paid 70 billion dollars to developers, the Apple company omitted to say that it collected 30 billion dollars from them in 9 years. Apple collects 30% of the price of any purchase made through the AppStore, so the application store has generated a lot of money for Americans in its 9 years of existence.

Although the AppStore no longer generates the most downloads among all existing application stores, it still remains the leader in terms of revenue. Compared to Google Play, the AppStore generates about 2 times more money and about 2 times more profit, so there are no reasons to choose Google's platform over Apple's.

Apple also confirmed that games generated the most money for developers, and entertainment applications are in second place. Netflix, Spotify, Hulu and other similar services generate a lot of money every month for Apple and developers, but applications for recording/editing pictures and video clips are also profitable, followed by those for fitness and health.

Overall, the AppStore has been on an upward trend for several years and does not seem to stop growing, as Apple wants from its store.

"People everywhere love apps and our customers are downloading them in record numbers. Seventy billion dollars earned by developers is simply mind-blowing. We are amazed at all of the great new apps our developers create and can't wait to see them again next week at our Worldwide Developers Conference."
