Windows 10 – The Timeline function arrives on the iPhone

Windows 10 has the Continuum function also available on the iPhone starting today, it can be used with the help of the Continue to PC application.

Windows 10 will have in the Fall Creators Update a very interesting new function that will allow users to interconnect a smartphone and a computer to transfer information. Microsoft presented this function a few months ago, and then it was said that Windows 10 will have the Timeline function both for iPhone, as well as for Android, but the other day a new beta version brought support only for Android.

Windows 10 will still have support for iPhone terminals, and this became evident when Microsoft launched an application called Continue on PC in the App Store. This application developed especially for the iPhone is designed to work only with Windows 10, it allows the use of the Timeline function because otherwise this implementation would not be possible for Apple smartphones.

Windows 10 in the beta versions of the Fall Creators Update allows users to use the new iPhone application to continue some tasks started on the smartphone. More precisely, after installing this application on the iPhone, Windows 10 will allow us to continue surfing the Internet started on the smartphone, to share texts, or to do a variety of other actions, which have not yet been activated.

Windows 10 – The Timeline function arrives on the iPhone

Windows 10 tries with this Timeline function to copy the Handoff function that Apple has implemented for its Macs and iDevices. This allows performing exactly the same functions, the exception being that in the case of Windows 10 we are talking about support for both iPhone and Android or Windows Phone, while in the case of macOS there is only support for terminals running iOS.

Windows 10 is more versatile than Apple's operating system, as expected, and this will make many Android and iPhone users very happy. Apple could also implement such a function in macOS, but of course it will not do it because it wants to keep the ecosystem very closed, something that Microsoft does not want with Windows 10 in order to have as high a degree of use as possible.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will be released in the fall of this year, but for now it is not known exactly when, but the function is available right now in beta versions. Any user of the Windows Insider program can install the update for Windows 10 to enjoy this Timeline functionality on iPhone and Android, but the rest will have to wait until the official release.

Windows 10 requires the Continue on PC application on the iPhone for interconnection, which can be downloaded following this link.
