WhatsApp – Changes for Sent Pictures

WhatsApp is testing changes for the pictures we send to friends with whom we have conversations through the messaging platform for iPhone.

WhatsApp has changes for pictures sent by users in the development process at the moment, the American company is testing the changes at the moment. A few weeks ago WhatsApp made a change to the way users send pictures, the application using new servers of the Facebook company to distribute the images to the people we talk to.

WhatsApp made this change also because it is going to implement a new way of compressing the pictures that users send in conversations with friends. This new system is currently being tested by WhatsApp for large-scale implementation, and based on the tests it will be decided what kind of compression will be done for the pictures that users send in their daily life.

WhatsApp is going to use at least two separate systems for compressing the pictures sent, one for those that contain text and another for those that have more graphic elements. WhatsApp offers diverse compression modes to ensure that users receive photos in a sufficiently good quality so that all elements in them are visible after opening.

WhatsApp – changes for sent pictures

WhatsApp compresses all pictures and video clips sent by users over the network, so their size is substantially reduced to generate lower internet consumption. Unfortunately, this compression process also substantially affects the quality of pictures and video clips sent by users, but this is the compromise that must be made in order not to consume a lot of Internet traffic when using WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is testing this system very seriously before implementing it for all its users, and this is because the change could have major effects on the quality of the materials. We are talking about a possible additional reduction in the quality of some of the pictures and video clips shared via WhatsApp, and this if it is desired that their sizes be reduced even more compared to what is offered so far.

WhatsApp has over 1.2 billion users worldwide, and providing photo and video sharing services for everyone is quite expensive for the company. In this idea, it is possible that the changes tested now will also have the effect of reducing the operating costs of the servers used by WhatsApp, but everything depends on how the American company wants to offer its services to users, so it remains to be seen what will officially announce.
