Apple Watch had a tough summer, with a drop in market share

Apple Watch seems to have had a rather complicated summer in which sales fell along with the market share in the smartwatch segment.

Apple Watch had quite a rough summer, with Apple's smartwatch seeing a drop in market share in the third fiscal quarter of 2017. Apple said Apple Watch sales grew 50% in Q3 2017, but those from IDC say that we are actually talking about a decrease in the market share of the Cupertino smartwatch.

Apple watch had a market share of 2% in Q2017 49.6, but in Q3 2017 it fell to 41%, and this against the background of a decrease in interest from consumers. According to IDC, Apple Watch sold 2.7 million units in Q3 2017, 700.000 units less than in the second fiscal quarter of 2017.

Apple Watch had declining sales most likely due to the fact that Apple was preparing the launch of new models of the smartwatch, and a variety of rumors appeared on the Internet about them. That's what Samsung, Garmin, Fossil and Continenta Wireless took advantage of, all of them still registering lower sales than Apple.

Apple claimed that the Apple Watch had a 50% increase in sales compared to Q3 2016, but based on what IDC says, things are completely different. Now it remains for everyone to believe what they want, that is, to trust what Apple says based on recorded sales, or to believe IDC based on estimates without accurate data.
