Samsung declares its intentions to develop such a wireless charging system in a patent registered in 2016, so we are not talking about an idea that is even that old for Koreans. Unlike what Apple is developing, Samsung presents an idea that would allow wireless charging of phones in a room, even when they move away from the device that emits the energy, something that seems impossible at the moment.
Apple mainly thought of systems that charge phones at a maximum of 1-1.5 meters from a charging pad, but those from Samsung think that they can offer something really useful for people who want real wireless charging. Of course, from a simple idea to a real product is a very long way, but everything has to start somewhere, and if Apple and Samsung are working on such a technology, it is clear that it will be offered someday.
