Huawei is enjoying impressive success in Romania, the Chinese company announcing that in 2017 the receipts from the sale of phones, tablets and wearables increased by 30% compared to 2016. The increase is surprising, considering that global sales have increased by an equally high percentage, but in Romania Huawei made 130 million euros in 2017.
Huawei expects 2018 to be even better than 2017, so it estimates receipts 40% - 50% higher than last year, so it could reach 195 - 200 million euros in Romania. Huawei claims that in the first months of the year it recorded very good sales for its own products, so it expects to reach its sales target for 2018.
Huawei - strong growth in sales in Romania
Huawei occupies the second position in Romania based on the number of phones sold in the country, Samsung occupying the first position, while Apple should be the third, or at least that is the situation for some time. Huawei would have a 20% share of the smartphone market in Romania, and since 3.6 million were sold in 2017, we are talking about about 720.000 units.
"For this year, we have budgeted a new strong growth of around 40-50%, and after the good performance of the first months of the year, I think that our target is achievable. We have a market share in volume of about 20%. But we invest more in marketing on all channels."
Huawei has good sales in our country, if we take into account the fact that we are not a premium market and people are mainly looking here for phones that are very cheap. Huawei still has very high hopes for Romania, so it will be interesting to see if it manages to reach its sales goal in a market where it is fighting with Samsung, Apple having about half of its market share.
