AT&T is one of the largest mobile phone operators in Romania, and yesterday its representatives announced that they will launch a 5G fake in the USA for customers who own certain phone models. This fake 5G will only exist in the imagination of AT&T, and of those who don't know what world they live in, because the operator will display the 5G E indicator on customers' phones when they use the 4G LTE network in various areas of the country where mobile internet speeds are decent.
You can see below what the new 5G E icon looks like that AT&T will display on the screens of the newest mobile phone models that use its 4G LTE network, and so you can see how far lies can go in the US. 5G E stands for 5G Evolution, that is, a kind of preamble for 5G, only that it is actually 4G, and the US authorities do nothing to stop such lies, because this happened with 4G as well.

AT&T displayed a 4G icon on the phones of customers connected to the HSPA+ network, although the speeds were a very stupid joke, but even Apple agreed to display such a false indicator for customers. It is hard to understand how operators in the US can lie to their customers in such an obvious way and no one fines them with good percentages of the turnover, but if this is done there, why wouldn't they think of us as well operators to switch to fake 5G networks?
If they have one of the latest Android devices and it connects to a tower that's enabled with 5G Evolution, they'll soon see a "5G E" indicator pop up on their screen. The USA is a country where anything is possible, including lying to your customers that they are using a 5G network, when in fact they are on a 4G network, with speeds even worse than those in Romania, and Donald Trump is sleeping, as usual when it's about problems of this kind. Don't be surprised if operators in Europe, or even Romania, have equally stupid ideas to fool their customers, and if you see 5G icons ahead of time on your phone, know that it's just a lie.
