WhatsApp. A new and very important function is implemented in the messaging application, following an unusual decision by Facebook and Google in 2019.

WhatsApp. The other day we talked to you about a new function that will be implemented for the famous messaging application, it comes as a real surprise for the more than 1.5 billion active users worldwide at the moment. More precisely, I told you that WhatsApp is going to implement a new function that will allow you to search for images on the Internet to check if they are real or fake, all in order to combat fake news, i.e. fake news.

WhatsApp. The new function implemented for the application is offered through the well-known Google search engine, and Facebook's decision surprises, because normally the two companies are competitors. Now, Facebook will provide Google with valuable information about the number of people who actually use its application and search through WhatsApp for the pictures they receive from various people.

WhatsApp. Facebook and Google have a partnership through which users can upload backups from the application to Google Drive, but this collaboration is also extended to a dedicated function in the application. Although no one knows clearly what motivated this decision behind the implementation of the function for WhatsApp, it is quite clear that Facebook did not take the decision too lightly, because it gives a competing company access to information about its platform.

WhatsApp. Although the platform has a very old problem with fake news, and in some countries it even risks having the service banned, I would have expected Facebook to find other solutions for this problem, but it didn't. It will be interesting to see if we will ever find out statistics on the number of people who will actually use this feature, or if Google will manage to take advantage of the unexpected access to create a truly competitive platform.

WhatsApp. The new function is still in full development process, and for now it is not clear when it would be officially offered.
