112. IMPORTANT Government announcement regarding a series of MAJOR Changes

112, Romania's emergency service, is subject to a series of very important changes made by the Government of our country, some of which have had to be implemented for a very long time. More precisely, after the tragedy in Caracal, the Romanian Government promised a series of important changes for the 112 emergency service, and now it has announced a first series of substantial changes to protect it and make it much more efficient.

112 will finally increase the fines that can be applied by the authorities if false calls are initiated, so that they will increase up to 5 times, from 500-1000 LEI to 1000-5000 LEI. Even in the recent case where a young woman called 112 saying she was seized in an apartment in Bucharest, and put hundreds of police officers on the roads, the fine applied by the authorities was only 500 LEi, so the large fines must also effectively applied.

112. IMPORTANT Government announcement regarding a series of MAJOR Changes

112 has finally been created by the Romanian Government and the legal framework for the implementation of support for AML technology, and implicitly the ELS offered by Google within the Android operating system. The authorities complained that they cannot locate people who call 112 because of the GDPR, which is stupid, saving a life in the case of a call like this should remove any kind of law regarding the person's right to data protection.

"Today we are approving a legislative package (...) We are creating the legal framework for the rapid implementation of the AML (Advanced Mobile Localisation) system for those who call the unique 112 service. Also for better localization, it is necessary to identify the caller by associating the number of phone with caller details. Such attitudes generate unnecessary costs and endanger the lives of those who really need it. We will increase the amount of fines for those who falsely call emergency crews 5 times, from 1.000 lei to 5.000 lei."

However, because until now no one wanted to save more lives, only now is the Romanian Government creating the legal framework for 112 to become more efficient in locating the millions of Romanians with smartphones. It is not known how long it will take until the AML technology is implemented for 112, but at least the fines will be increased much faster, but without identifying the callers, they are completely useless for now.

112 should be the emergency service in which Romanians trust that it will help them if their lives are in danger, but unfortunately this trust has disappeared to a very large extent.
