iOS 12.4.2 was released for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch by the Apple company, the Americans distributing the update for old devices that cannot install iOS 13. iOS 12.4.2 is offered by Apple to fix security issues that were fixed in iOS 13 for newer iDevices.
iOS 12.4.2 also keeps the old iDevices safe through the security innovations offered by the Apple company, even though their support was limited. iOS 12.4.2 is only available for 14 models of iDevices that have not been updated to iOS 13, so not for others.
iOS 12.4.2 should not appear on iDevices that are compatible with iOS 13, even if they have not yet updated to this new version. Those from Apple will display the update to iOS 12.4.2 only for those who have phones and tablets incompatible with iOS 13, the rest being able to update to iOS 13.
iOS 12.4.2 can be installed very easily via Settings > General > Software Update, Configurations > General > Software Update by anyone.
