RCS & RDS has, until recently, secretly made an extremely important change that will have a major impact on customers throughout the country, and this in the conditions where the competition on the telecom market is still high. I'm talking here about the fact that RCS & RDS has launched a 2G network in Romania that aims to provide much better coverage for customers in the country both inside buildings and outside them, solving a huge problem.
RCS & RDS has major deficiencies in indoor coverage, especially on the 3G side, and the 2G network will solve that, even though Digi has released Wi-Fi Calling technology in an attempt to improve the situation. The reality is that the 2G network that RCS & RDS has already launched in two counties in the country will change things even more, and will increase competition with other telecommunications operators in Romania.
RCS & RDS CHANGE with HUGE IMPACT for Romanian Customers
RCS & RDS, even without buying Telekom's mobile phone infrastructure, will have the ability to offer more customers coverage even in areas where it was very bad or missing. RCS & RDS already has lower prices than any other competitor on the market, but its big problem is coverage and internet speed, but the 2G network solves one of the problems, which matters for everyone.
RCS & RDS can't really solve the problem of internet speeds except by expanding 4G or 5G coverage, which will require quite a lot of time, so there's still time to wait, unfortunately for many customers. However, it is very good news to see that RCS & RDS has started to solve this coverage problem, and if it does not buy Telekom's mobile infrastructure, it will be able to "steal" the competitors' customers thanks to its own investments.
RCS & RDS now covers a very emic region in Romania with its 2G network, and the expansion will not be simple and fast, so everyone will have to wait for things to improve radically.
