STS announced a pilot program that will significantly improve the ability of those from SMURD to save Romanians to whose emergencies they go, thanks to a videoconferencing system that is currently being tested in Romania.

STS it will help those from SMURD to transmit real-time images from the scene of an intervention, whether it is about serious road accidents, or interventions made in cities for other problems of citizens, all of which will improve the ability to save lives.

STS implemented 300 tablets in the intervention vehicles of SMURD in Bucharest-Ilfov, Bihor, Iasi, Mures and Timis, but if the pilot project will be successful, then a total of 5000 tablets will be provided to SMURD crews from all over Romania .

STS mentions the fact that this video conferencing system implemented in the tablets supplied to SMURD crews will allow real-time video transmissions only in areas where there is a good signal, but it is not known which telecommunication operator's network they are using.

"The Special Telecommunications Service has installed a video conferencing application on the tablets that are equipped with SMURD's emergency vehicles. The application allows the transmission of video images from the scene to the dispatcher, respectively the coordinating doctor, in order to assess the situation as accurately and quickly as possible."

STS says that the tablets will allow the rescuers from SMURD to enter into a system information from the scene that also reaches the assigned emergency reception unit, so that the coordinating environment can make vital decisions more quickly, and will know what to expect when the victims arrive.
