Google launches a distance learning platform in Romania

Google G Suite for Education Romania

Google announced today the launch in Romania of the educational hub G Suite for Education, a platform that allows pupils and students to learn more easily from a distance during this period in which they are recorded at home due to the Coronavirus.

Google is launching this educational hub to help young people in Romania because educational institutions are having a hard time facing this challenge they are going through at the moment, but the platform itself can be very helpful for many people.

"Google is launching a platform dedicated to distance learning, a hub of information and tools designed to help teachers during the crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus. It can be found at events.withgoogle.com/g-suite-for-education-ro/ and provides resources in Romanian for teachers to train themselves in using the G Suite for Education package, to connect with their students and to make lessons interesting and enjoyable.

G Suite for Education is a collection of applications that provide access to essential educational functions (creation of online lessons, generation of documents of all kinds, training and classroom management, file sharing, email, etc.). G Suite for Education is available free of charge to educational institutions. They can register to benefit from the G Suite for Education package for free at this address: https://www.clasaviitorului.ro/.

The distance learning platform also offers a home teaching guide for teachers, available directly at this address: services.google.com/fh/files/misc/predarea_de_acasa_ghid_pentru_profesori.pdf.

It provides step-by-step information from setting up your home workspace, preparing the course and video "meeting" with students, preparing for teaching and actually teaching, to collaborating with students, including using Jamboard, an online whiteboard where you present in real time to students, and organizing 1:1 discussions with students. Google will constantly update distance learning information and resources as it receives feedback from educators and partners.

Distance learning through Google's free services has been made possible through collaboration with EduApps and the Ministry of Education. More than 200.000 teachers have been or are being trained on how to use the resources available for distance education.”
