DIGI Mobile is the fourth largest telecommunications operator in Romania at the moment, but this information could only be temporary, and this is because one of the big changes in the telecom market in Romania is being prepared. More precisely, those from RCS & RDS would still be in discussions with Telekom for a possible acquisition of the mobile telephony division, and DIGI Mobil would have a substantial increase in the number of clients.
DIGI Mobile could record a doubling of the number of customers in Romania if RCS & RDS decides to go ahead with this possible transaction, even though in 2019 things kind of stalled when the operator refused to take over the customers of Telekom's mobile division. In the meantime, those from DIGI Mobil have also built a 2G infrastructure, so they don't really need Telekom's, especially since it is no longer "shiny", so a purchase seems quite difficult to understand now.

DIGI Mobile it could still attract a good part of Telekom customers through porting, it is true that it is much slower than through a direct purchase, but a huge amount would be saved, as it will not be easily recovered by the operator. On the other hand, RCS & RDS could conduct an aggressive campaign to convince the customers bought from Telekom to buy other services, separately from those of DIGI Mobil, and this because at Orange, which will buy the fixed division of Telekom, prices will not be lower.
DIGI Mobile would become the third largest telecommunications operator in Romania with the acquisition of Telekom's mobile division, still remaining in last place, but with a much smaller customer gap compared to Vodafone. DIGI Mobil would "blow down Vodafone's neck" if this acquisition were completed, and this could increase competition on the Romanian market, but of course the approval of the European Commission is needed for everything to be completed .
DIGI Mobile it is not in such a bad situation that it is mandatory to buy Telekom in order for the evolution to be positive, but it certainly does not hurt a few million extra customers, and higher incomes.
