Government of Romania: very IMPORTANT WARNING for Citizens

The Romanian government steals money

The Romanian government, through CERT-RO, the agency for cyber security, today has a very important warning for all Romanians after new campaigns were discovered designed to trick Romanians in order to steal their money, with little chance that they will ever be recovered.

"At the beginning of April, the CERT-RO team wrote about a series of #scam campaigns for which cybercriminals used the image of some media institutions, to give credibility to the story they want to present to potential victims. Their objective is of course to extract personal and financial data from users.

Such scenarios, promoting the idea of a quick and easy win, are back and are being propagated through sponsored posts on Facebook. The accessed site presents a ridiculous story about a businessman from Romania who specifies that at the moment his main source of income is cryptocurrency trading.

Of course, the article is in a Romanian language with grammatical and expression mistakes (probably an automatically translated text) and is full of links to this trading site. Although the solution is called BitcoinCode, the site to which the user is redirected, where they should create an account (thus collecting personal data) has a different name (funkert[.]com).

After entering personal data and access credentials on that site (name, surname, phone, email, password), you are redirected to another site, where card data is collected.

Read and carefully analyze the information gathered from online.
Always check the source of the message you receive, as well as the address of the sites you visit.
Report such posts to the social network where they spread to limit the number of impressions to other users.
Avoid accessing links from unknown sources without checking them first.
Keep an antivirus solution on your device with up-to-date updates.
Access free online resources to verify these links if you have no other option at hand. (ex: Total Virus)
Pay attention to the quality of the text provided, such as possible spelling, grammatical or expression errors.
If you have already provided card details, contact the issuing bank immediately to block that card.
File a complaint with the Police if you have suffered financial loss."
