STS had revealed ahead of time a special application it is working on to support efforts to prevent the spread of the new Coronvirus, so it published the information below to explain very clearly what it will offer starting this month.
"Considering the information circulated in the public space regarding the computer systems developed by the Special Telecommunications Service for the Ministry of Health to support the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus and as a result of the requests of several press trusts, for the correct information of the citizens, the Press Office of STS makes the following clarifications:
STS is not developing an application based on the collection of people's location information, but an additional functionality to the Corona-Forms application currently used by medical authorities.
The new functionality will allow medical monitoring of COVID-19 cases, based on the information entered into the application by the entities provided for in the Order of the Minister of Health for the approval of the information flow used in the reporting of data related to the infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
At the request of the Ministry of Health, on the Corona-Forms platform, the addresses declared during the epidemiological investigation by people who have positive results for the SARS-CoV-2 virus will be presented in an internal graphic interface of the map type. This functionality will only be available to decision-makers and will allow the filtering of confirmed cases with the new coronavirus, by area, down to street level. We reiterate that this functionality does not involve monitoring people.
STS has developed, based on the operational requirements established by the Ministry of Health, an IT system that allows the centralization of data on people confirmed with the new coronavirus.
At this moment, according to the Order of the Minister of Health for the approval of the information flow used in the reporting of data related to the infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, each laboratory that performs tests has begun the procedure of entering the obtained results into the computer system, it being possible to generate reports at the level national or county or only for certain areas. Also, the computer system allows the transmission of SMS messages and e-mails with the results of the COVID-19 test to each patient and to the family doctors.
In the future, STS offers specialized technical assistance in the field of IT&C and shows its full openness to support the government's efforts in managing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic."
