Huawei: BAN from Romania Complained to the European Commission

Huawei took an unprecedented decision against Romania, here's why it complained to the European Commission, and how it affects customers in the country.

Huawei complaint

Huawei surprises everyone with a decision that, to be honest, involves not only our country, but also Poland, in both of which a decision was taken, at least unofficially, to ban its 5G telecommunications equipment. It seems that the decision to ban Huawei's 5G equipment has already been taken at the governmental level, something that is transposed into a draft law, especially since Romania signed a memorandum with the USA in this regard in the summer of 2019.

Huawei she is not satisfied with this decision, so she filed a complaint with the European Commission against Romania and Poland against these decisions to ban their 5G equipment for the creation of new networks in the countries. Huawei is attacking the legislative proposals from Romania and Poland regarding the prohibition of its 5G telecommunications equipment, as well as the memorandums signed by both countries to comply with US requests to prevent their use for 5G networks.

Huawei: BAN from Romania Complained to the European Commission

Huawei has practically banned 5G equipment in Romania since the summer of 2019, only that not officially, but even unofficially, telecommunications operators have significantly slowed down the expansion of the 5G networks they had. It is possible that these companies decided not to buy 5G equipment from Huawei precisely because a total ban was to be imposed on them, so the complaint made to the European Commission is one that can be expected.

"Huawei opposes these legislative proposals which are contrary to the fundamental principles of the EU."

Huawei says that Romania and Poland ban its 5G equipment based on biased and ambiguous arguments, which are related to the geographical area from which the company that produces them originates. Huawei also brings into discussion the fact that through this decision Romania and Poland would violate the European principles for predictability and legal stability, but of course the chance of obtaining a change in the decisions influenced by the US is equal to zero.

Huawei an extensive campaign in Romania began in September to position itself as an essential company for our country, but the authorities have not changed their unofficial decision to ban 5G equipment, and as long as the US wants this, it is unlikely that anything will it changes.
