ING Bank: ATTENTION! IMPORTANT change for ALL Customers

ING Bank has issued a very important warning message for all customers across the country, here's what you need to know about it right now.

ING Bank refuses

ING Bank issued just before the New Year a very important warning aimed at all its clients in Romania, it will come into force on January 1, 2021, and you must know what it is about. More precisely, those from ING Bank say that from then on the provisions of a new European directive called PSD 2, Payment Service Directive, will come into force, bringing other new methods of authorization of payments, but this is only part of the change .

ING Bank requires an authorization for all online card payments through its own transaction application for the merchant, replacing the code received until now via SMS by customers who made online purchases. This change is made by all banks in Romania, in various forms, but ING Bank says that it applies to online stores, or websites, that have implemented the payment security system called 3D Secure.

ING Bank says that there are also online stores that have not implemented such systems for online payments, and in their case the situation becomes much more complicated than it seems at first glance. More precisely, those from ING Bank say that in the case of websites that do not have 3D Secure implemented, online payment can be refused by the bank, and people must choose payment on delivery, or payment by bank order, but the number of online stores affected should be small.

ING Bank is obliged to implement these new security measures, but the problem comes with the refusal of payments for websites that do not have 3D Secure, and there are quite a few in Romania, but not only. ING Bank offers as an alternative for online payments on websites without 3D Secure and the use of Apple Pay or Google Pay, but if they do not have 3D Secure, they most certainly do not have those payment methods either, so from January 1 - you might have more hassles with online payments.

ING Bank tested the new system with some of the clients in the last weeks, so that people start getting used to this change, but from January 1 everything will be officially imposed.
