Romanian Government: 5G networks made with CSAT Approved Producers

Romanian Government 5G Networks Approved Manufacturers csat

The Romanian government has finally adopted a draft law regarding the future 5G networks in Romania, and we have the foundations of what will allow the creation of this kind of infrastructure, but the equipment and software for them must come from manufacturers approved by CSAT .

The Romanian government is practically blocking Huawei's access to 5G networks, at least to the important parts, as has happened in other countries, and this is because it is unlikely that the Chinese company will be given any approval that would allow the use of its equipment anywhere in the networks.

"The purpose of this law is to adopt measures related to authorization the manufacturers of technologies, equipment and software programs used within the IT and communications infrastructures of national interest, as well as in the electronic communications networks through which 5G electronic communications services are provided, hereinafter referred to as 5G networks, in order to prevent, countering and eliminating risks, threats and vulnerabilities to the national security and defense of the country.

To achieve the purpose provided for in art. 1, the use of technologies, equipment and software programs within the IT and communications infrastructures of national interest, as well as in 5G networks, with the exception of terminal equipment used by end users defined according to art. 4
para. (1) point 4 of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 111/2011 regarding electronic communications, approved, with amendments and additions, by Law no. 140/2012, with subsequent amendments and additions, is conditional on the producers obtaining an authorization, under the terms of this law.
(2) The authorization provided for in para. (1) is granted, by decision of the Prime Minister, based on the approval of the Supreme Council of National Defense, hereinafter referred to as CSAT, within 4 months from the date of the request."
