Valeriu Gheorghita spoke today at a press conference about the usefulness of marathons for vaccinating Romanians, saying that at least 30% more people than usual were vaccinated during them.
Valeriu Gheorghita makes it clear that apart from the marathons that have already been announced for some localities in the country, other marathons could be organized to boost the vaccination rate, which is not exactly where it should be in this period.
"The solution of vaccination marathons in several localities in the country confirms its usefulness, by the fact that it facilitated quick access to vaccination for an encouragingly large number of people. Practically, only during May 8-10, we have at least 30% more people who got vaccinated by coming directly to the vaccination centers compared to the number of people who previously registered in the platform.
We also secured the necessary doses for 738 family doctors' offices that expressed their willingness to get involved in the immunization campaign. At this moment, vaccination has already started in 372 family medicine offices from 38 counties and the City of Bucharest.
In order to continue to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get vaccinated, we maintain the measure by which they can present themselves directly, without an appointment, at any of the centers organized at national level. People over 60 can come in person during the vaccination center's working hours, from 08:00 to 20:00, and those under 60 after 14:00. Of course, for people who have registered in the platform, their appointments remain valid, and those who show up directly at the centers will be vaccinated based on order vouchers that will be issued according to the number of places and doses available from that day in that center.
A priority for this period is the start of vaccination activities in health facilities with beds, both private and state.
Since the beginning of the campaign, almost 6.100.000 doses of all four types of vaccine have been administered at the national level.
In parallel with the campaigns that we manage centrally, vaccination among private economic operators is also underway. Up to this moment we are talking about a number of 207 economic operators who have started the activity of immunizing employees, of which 43 economic operators from HoReCa. This activity was carried out with the help of 58 mobile teams and a number of 17.590 people were vaccinated in this way."
