Romanian Government: Restaurants Open in Wave 4 with COVID Certificates

The Government of Romania, through the voice of Florin Citu, announces that an idea proposed by the former Minister of Health, Ioana Mihaila, would be proposed to the CNSU for approval, and if approved, then the restaurants would remain open regardless of the incident only based on a COVID certificate.

The Romanian government would support this proposal so that restaurants would no longer end up being closed as happened last year, and people can use the COVID certificates if they are vaccinated, tested, or cured after infection.

"First of all, the decision of the CNSU must be adopted, then it will be a government decision in the government meeting. The direction in which we are going is the following: I do not want to close the economic activities over 3 per thousand and then, in order to keep these activities open, we must have some form of monitoring.

The green certificate, especially now that we have it and it can be verified through this very simple QR code, is one of the proposals so that these activities remain open. So the restaurants can stay open, based on a green certificate – it's a proposal, we'll see if it will be approved in the CNSU. Of course, after that we talk about the staff in the restaurant – for example, they have to wear a mask all the time, so there are some conditions, but starting from the basic idea that we don't want to close the economic activity over 3 per thousand.

Now we also have the vaccine, we also have a way to check if someone has been vaccinated, if they have been tested or if they have gone through the disease, we have this green certificate. It's a way of keeping the economy open, but at the same time keeping certain rules."
