DNSC: Caution Regarding BLACK FRIDAY Offers

DNSC Warning Regarding BLACK FRIDAY Offers

DNSC sends a very important warning regarding the offers for BLACK FRIDAY, the authorities trying to tell the Romanians how they should be aware of the cyber attacks that are in full swing at the moment.

DNSC wants to help Romanians from all over the country to be as vigilant as possible during this period when there are many scams related to fake offers that are presented online, some of them being used to steal people's data.

"We are fast approaching the period of specific #BlackFriday discounts, and online criminals have already launched their own 'promotional campaigns', using the image of well-known brands in Romania.

Under the pretext of the possibility of winning a prize or a shopping voucher, users in Romania receive (on social media or messaging applications) messages with links to compromised sites where false promotional offers are presented.

The Directorate team received notifications about the existence of such attempts from users who realized that it was a hoax and immediately took the necessary steps to shut them down. However, attackers launch new sites that host such fraudulent initiatives almost daily.

At the moment, the method uses the brand image of companies such as Rompetrol, Profi Romania or Compania Naţională Poşta Română, but it is not excluded that the attackers will expand the number of organizations whose visual identity is used in the attacks.

Avoid accessing links from unknown sources and analyze them with a security solution before clicking!

Do not provide personal, financial or authentication data after receiving such links!

Always check the existence of the promotion on the brand's official channels (website, verified social media channels) and report any suspicious offer or contest to 1911.

Familiarize yourself with the fraud methods used by online attackers and test your skills in recognizing such malicious attempts.”
