Minister of Education Decisions Taken by Schools Bring Changes to Students

The Minister of Education detailed a series of very important decisions that were officially taken and that are meant to bring changes for millions of students in all schools, and this is because an increasing emphasis will be placed on the training of teachers in the units of education.

The Minister of Education speaks in the governing program adopted at the end of November by the new Government about the fact that teachers play an essential role in the education and training of students, and they must also be prepared in the best possible way to assume their chairs within schools.

"Teachers are mentors and facilitators, true professionals in education. Society recognizes the role and importance of teachers for the formation of future citizens. Initial teacher training includes mentoring stages, a minimum six-month practice period and a rigorous selection process.

In classroom teaching, teachers benefit from the contribution of specialists (counselors, psychologists, support teachers, speech therapists, etc.) and have access to quality continuous training programs, appropriate to the needs of the educational community. These allow them to be aware of the latest changes in pedagogical practice and to fulfill the multiple roles that fall to them, in the school and the community.

Under the pressure generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as under the continuous and increasingly rapid pressure of technology, teacher training is becoming more and more complex. Transversal skills have become increasingly sought after by employers, in the context of technological change
accelerated. Digital skills are becoming a necessity for all teaching staff.

For the full assurance of qualified human resources, the double specialization of teaching staff becomes a priority. In the medium term, an integrated teaching career management system is needed. In such a system, all teachers will benefit from support and those with special performances will benefit from recognition.

A curriculum will be adopted in a logical sequence from the early education level to the university level, coherent and appropriate to the diverse profile of children and the specific stages of their development, for the entire education system. It is essential to train the teaching staff so that they can apply this curriculum in different communities and situations, in order to adequately respond to a great diversity of pupils/students, with their own profiles, needs and aspirations."
