Minister of Education: Last Minute Decisions with Fundamental Changes in Schools

The Minister of Education officially announced a series of new last-minute decisions with fundamental changes for schools all over Romania and millions of students from all over the country, they being extremely important and requested by many people until now.

The Minister of Education talks about environmental education that will become a component of some school subjects, but also about a new Education law that will introduce many important changes, including for school scholarships, which will be changed and modified more clearly.

"We continue to let you know that the digital skills, the digitization part of the PNRRR is an extremely important component, but until we are able to ensure online teaching without losses, it will take time, both in Romania and in other countries. Environmental education is an important component.

It is a report available for public debate until February 11, a period of 30 days. I already said today that in the process of revising the curriculum, we are seriously considering the introduction of a verse week into the calendar of school activities. A green week in which students can learn elements related to environmental education, in the natural environment, in nature, outside of school, as the week is different now.

Educated Romania is a program that is starting, we are already concerned with the first aspect. There will be a new Education Law, we already have the framework plans for which we have committed ourselves for the high school to be available in September 2023. These framework plans will certainly contain all those requests, of the steps, of society, including environmental education .

Environmental education will have components in geography class, in economics class, in technological education class, not necessarily a new discipline, environmental education, but it is very important. There will be a new Education law in which we will clarify many things that society expects, including the scholarship system.

Through the consultation, we will have a series of scholarships very clearly intended for those with real merit, and those with real social and medical needs, in an amount that is so attractive that it is worth fighting for that scholarship, and for some very clear criteria established, and passed into law, so as not to change year after year."
