The Minister of Defense speaks for the millions of Romanians all over the country about the effects of the war in Ukraine, including for Romania, and this because our country is currently at the center of very important decisions made by NATO, which is sending even more soldiers to protect us.
The Minister of Defense also says that the defense industry in Romania will start to produce more weapons and military equipment in the future, there are already contacts with various companies producing such types of armaments, and not only that, everything is thought to strengthen the country's security our.
"The defense of Romania at this moment is part of the collective defense, because if you looked at the last NATO summit, one of the expressions that appeared is not only that of collective security, but of a system of collective defense. The presence of 4000 NATO soldiers in Romania, with a new battlegroup, and there will be 5000 soldiers in Romania who will be interoperable with our army, are important security guarantees for Romania.
In Romania at the moment we have a 2-speed defense industry, to use a European expression. One that already has industrial production units at the highest level, made together with prestigious companies from the USA, Israel, Germany, another is a former state industry.
The latter has both good and bad parts, but we are trying together with the Minister of Economy, who has under him the largest part of the military industry, to revive this part of our industry, first of all through partnerships with large companies and NATO armies .
Lately we have a lot of contacts with the biggest armies, and the biggest companies, to produce in Romania. Many interesting things are already produced in Romania at the highest level, even for export. We have NATO accredited maintenance centers, such as the one at Aerostar Bacau, accredited for F-16 aircraft.
But we will have many pleasant surprises in the future, and this is because with the expansion of the defense market, now there is a need not to sell to Romania, but rather to produce in Romania, so that together we can sell throughout the region, but also all over the world."
